From Love and Information is a fragment, containing five pieces extracted from the 60 minutes long original music composed by Pedram Babaiee for the premiere performance of Caryl Churchill’s play Love and Information in UMass Amherst, Directed by Nikoo Mamdoohi. Originally released Feb 2016, in April 2018 Bivác Records published the digital version and RouteNote Ltd digitally distributed it.

Ruins of a Memoir

(Album) - TBA | Pedram Babaiee

Ruins of a Memoir is a contemporary classical concept album — A personal exploration in abstracts of time, waves, frequency and immortality. It includes four main pieces;

- Three pieces for string quartet and piano. Frames, Fragments and Fractions. Each piece contains four movements.

- One exceptional piece - Infraction - which is written for woodwind quartet in three movements.

• Plus the four pieces mentioned above, four texture-based Epilogues, which are variations of themes used in its previous piece, in electronic or ambient styles. Each epilogue includes a unique Persian musical element, related to a story and glitch is an essential distraction!

In 2018, Pedram Babaieee started a series of live performances named Preview in which he performed some parts of Ruins of a Memoir -mainly Frames, Fragments and Fractions- live on the stage with the string quartet, Bivác Ensemble.

A Single release entitled Fragments III. Adagio was published in Nov. 2019, extracted from the album.

100 Days of Sympathy

Collaborative Project - 2019 | Pedram Babaiee

100 Days of Sympathy is an online collaborative project started in July 2019, in which a 100 musicians from all around the globe, play 100 miniature pieces originally written by Pedram Babaiee. Each episode features a solo musician playing specifically composed -or arranged- for and dedicated to them -with a few exceptions- and publishes on a 2/3 episodes-per-week routine on Instagram, Facebook and with a short delay, daily on Youtube.

2020 Update: The project will be migrating to Youtube completely, after a short break!

Portrait, in brief

Born April 1992, Pedram Babaiee (pronounced: pɛdrɑm bɑbɑɪ) is a Tehran-based contemporary classical music composer and producer, distinguished as the bearer of Iranian music legacy in his generation of contemporary classical composers; He also has a notable background in composing and producing more than 24 hours of music for performing arts, featured films, etc. from 2011 to 2017. Co-founded Tehran based art organization/ cultural hub, Rooberoo Mansion in 2016 and served the first year as head of the Production department there. In 2017, founded music production record label, Bivác Records.

"… The process is always foggy in the middle: It begins from a blank piece of paper, an empty sequence of digital audio workstation -and sometimes from an instrument- ends to a carefully mastered final product; But what happens in the middle could almost get me killed! …"

"Making musical textures out of pattern-based melodies is one of my personal favorite approaches in composition to look forward to. Generally, I'm more interested in writing for chamber orchestras and small ensembles, since I think it potentially represents a major work, except for that it leaves a little space for the listener, so that they can digest the conception with their own sense of imagination ..."

" ... I do like to use the elements from the heritage of Persian music, if possible; whether in orchestration or composition. However, most important filter of my works to be considered -finishing a work- is to make sure everything is in a reasonable harmony of form and content -theoretically and more from the music science aspect- and to make sure it is ideally as original as possible and emotionally comprehensible. ..."
